Tall Ships Festival - Round The Island Race
       Organized by Downtown Summerside, the Tall Ships Festival
again this year proved to be one of the biggest events hosted by
Summerside. Taking  place September 9-14, five of the fastest tall
ships in the world visited  Summerside to take part in a Round the
Island Race.

      Summerside has a rich history in shipbuilding. Once the
busiest shipping port in the province, it has not been since the
1800's that Islanders and visitors have had the opportunity to see
these majestic ships sailing together in a group.

      This year The Pride Of Baltimore II (157'), The Spirit of
Bermuda (112'),, The Virginia (126'), La Revenante (65'), Mist of
Avalon (100'), Papa departed Summerside Harbour at noon
September 11 on their 360 nautical mile journey.
